Asha McCarthy - Indian Cello

Performed by: Asha McCarthy

Engineer and producer Daniel Inzani recorded Asha McCarthy playing the incredible-sounding Indian Cello. Daniel used a spaced pair of BM9 ribbon microphones with FetHead boosters to capture the unique tone of this rare instrument.

The Indian Cello has five playing strings and ten sympathetic strings and is smaller in size than its western counterpart. The  addition of an extra playing string on a higher octave and the ten sympathetic strings gives it a unique, beautiful and rather eerie sound.
